I’ve wanted to write a Designer Insider on Moschino for quite some time now because I’m drawn to the quirky yet simultaneously lovely pieces they produce. I’d never heard of the brand until I saw Chiara Ferragani, curator of The Blonde Salad and one of my favorite bloggers rocking bizarre fast food clothing earlier this year. Then I saw the internet blow up with everyone wearing said McDonalds attire (or one of the many knock-offs) as well. Well, Jeremy Scott, the creative designer of the brand is at it again in a most effective marketing scheme. Pulling inspiration from Mattel, manufacturers of yes you guessed it, everyone’s favorite childhood toy Barbie, Moschino has debuted a brand new “Think Pink” Barbie-inspired line, which exploded all over Instagram in minutes. Try and tell me you haven’t seen at least three girls holding the pink and purple barbie mirror phone case and I will argue with you that you just didn’t recognize what you were looking at. According to this article– Moschino is not only placing the pieces up for sale on his site, he has also made them available on his exclusive Rent The Runway page linked here. I checked out the page and there are some killer deals available, hundreds of dollars off.

Scott had been alluding to this project on Instagram yo build excitement prior to the the Milan runway show which I’ve placed a video for below. The king of unconventional, I can honestly say that Moschino’s Milan fashion show is my favorite show I’ve ever seen. Scott pulled out all the stops, from big (and I mean huge) bouncy curls topped with enormous bows to a speed-skating model on old school roller skates. He had this to say about the collection-“Like every girl and gay boy, I loved Barbie. It’s hard not to; she’s practically perfect. She’s a good big sister, she’s had every job in the world, worn every outfit. And it’s just joyful. Her and I share the same things: We just want to bring joy to people.”

I wanted to capture the image he demonstrated so I opted for a bright pink top with gray shorts and tights with booties to finish off the feel. Not everything from the new collections is bright pink, so if that isn’t your style he also debuted some outlandish gold numbers, though as of now they aren’t available on his site. I’m from the South, and I do love big hair, so I also embraced that aspect of the show, though a straight-haired version. This look was quite fun to style, and I really encourage you to watch the show, it’s fantastic!
